Cast - Artquilt

Casting all your care upon Him - for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
A small artquilt pieced and handpainted by me. I started with a yellow piece of fabric, painted the praying silhouette in blue - with the image of the woman praying literally casting her rock/burden away.

I finished the piece with some very small/tight feathers - but I didnt' want quilting on the face - so I stabilized it, fusing it to the batting. The edge is finished with a very thin binding which I really had to work at - to get the blue to stop at the edge of the blue silhouette, then continue yellow, then change back to blue.
It was a tough project to finish - but very important to me. This verse is a vital message to each of us - claim it, live it - God bless!

I am posting this artquilt to enter it into the Blogger's Quilt Festival in the art quilt category - vote for it with this link - Art Quilts

Jayne's 4-Sister King Sized Quilt

This is one of our latest 4-sister quilts - this is Jayne's quilt. Sister Joyce made the 'A' blocks - the 9 patch. Sister Jo made the 'B' blocks - the star blocks. They chose their colors based on the darker blue print that Jayne had selected to begin.
My task was to assemble the quilt top -  - since I own a longarm, I also offered to quilt it for her - which she quickly accepted. AND - since I had not yet made a bed quilt for Jayne - I took the A and B blocks, added lots and made a king-sized quilt for her. I started with a feathered start - I love making them, using techniques I learned in a Quilt University online class.
Another technique I love to use is based on Dale Fleming's 6-minute circle - I made a template with freezer paper, made a mirror image of it - ironed/glued/sewed and trimmed and made the curved muslin insets - love it!

The extra A and B blocks I pieced into the backing.

I am reposting this quilt with a little more detail to the story to enter it into Blogger's Quilt Festival in the Bed Quilt category. Use this link to vote!Bed Quilts

Baby's Wallhanging and Quilt with Poly=blend fabrics

Finally finished just today this baby's wallhanging top - on to the quilting now. It is for a new friend here locally - she embroidered the blocks. It is a gift for her grandbaby. I thought it important to line up the dots in the background fabric as much as possible - goodness, this is the most I have ever used my seam ripper.
Still can't seem to throw those scraps away! So I used them to make this small top - big enough for changing diapers, I think.
This quilt is made by Diane - she made it over ten years ago, a beautiful pastel quilt of blues and peach. The outer border fabric and backing are a poly-blend. I was concerned how well it would quilt - but it worked beautifully - I really like how the fabric really emphasizes the quilting.

Recent Family Quilts....

Another 4sister quilt - this one is a bedrunner using 3 blocks from a 4sister block swap a few years ago = I love how these blocks look together....
 A baby quilt for Great-Grandpa Leeka's newest great-grandson......
This years 4sister quilt, finished just in time for the big reveal in PA!
Our rules for 2013 - we each selected a fabric and sent 2 yards to next sister. Using the colors from that fabric, she made 18 9-patch blocks (Block A) and sent the 2 yards original fabric and blocks to next sister. She then made Block B - the star block. And sent on the whole package to the next sister. And that sister then put together the quilt top for the big reveal in October.
So this quilt belongs to sister Jayne - sister Joyce made the A blocks, sister Jo made the B blocks and I put it together. Yes, I got a little carried away! I added the feathered star in the center and since I have a longarm, I also quilted and bound it for Jayne - so she received a finished bedquilt - it finished out about 106" square.
