Finally quilting on some beautiful tops that I have had for a few weeks too long. I think they turned out well - being so late finishing them, I find myself wondering what they would have looked like had I quilted them earlier for I 'design' as I am working on them.
This is a quilt made by Kris for a young man in her family - for his graduation. It has a fishing theme - see the great fishing fabric on the back below. I didn't want to fill it with feathers as that could look rather frilly. So I repeated a meander in each square that is 'supposed' to look like the ripples in water made by a lure hitting the surface.........Really?...... Repeated in each square, it does give a neat overall texture to the quilt.
But I did add feathers in the border, sorry, just couldnt' resist! I used 3 colors of thread on this one.
These next two quilts are made by Portia - both are Christmas quilts - definitely NOT your traditional holiday colors - they are beautiful!
The inner border with the appliqued words struck me as such a celebration of joy - I used an all over of circles and swirls that look to me like confetti - to add to the celebration. There are small circles of feathers in each 8pt star. The rest is filled with a 'featherish' allover.
First showing the back of this quilt - the quilting shows well on it - but my pictures aren't showing it so well.
This is a beautiful quilt that Portia made - full of wondering piecing and applique techniques - she did a superb job making this quilt = gosh, she always does a beautiful sewing job.
Another rather non-traditional holiday colors and patterns - it is red and green, just an interesting shade of each. Hope she enjoys my contribution to her beautiful quilt!
