Experiment with paper

Using scraps of 140lb watercolor paper, I curled and crunched and painted the pieces while wet then sewed them onto this small piece. The heavy paper, when dry, keeps its curled and crunched shape. But because it is paper - please don't get any water near this piece.

Rather than going thru the mess of 'coating' the paper to make it waterproof - I think I will experiment with plastic - maybe cut-up (& recycle) plastic bottle that already have the curved shape - but thin enough to sew thru....hmmmmm......

This is another in my Word series also - didn't meet my challenge of one each week - this is about #30. 1 John 4:12
'No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us and His love is perfected in us.'

  1. Another way of using plastic is to layer up some plastic bags between non-stick paper (here in UK it's called baking parchment) and press with a hot iron to fuse. (Use good ventilation!) Depending on the heat of the iron and type of plastic, it will shrink - and fuse.

  4. The fabric/paper combo is very interesting and your quilting is beautiful! Experimenting is always fun and full of surprises.
